Experience-hunting audiences are driving a dairy boom in India

Despite being the largest producer of milk in the world, India has traditionally never been associated with cheese production. But things are rapidly changing, with a slew of artisanal cheese companies mushrooming around the country due to a rising economy and a desire for novelty and globalisation.

Sid Mathur

Sid Mathur began his career in hospitality in 2010 as co-founder and director of Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality Pvt Ltd, a brand that helms some of the most popular restaurant chains across India, including Smoke House Deli and Social. In 2011, he founded Secret Ingredient Food Consultants, a food consultancy service. His clients include the biggest restaurateurs in the country. Khoya Mithai is his latest venture which began in 2016. It creates bespoke and luxury versions of traditional Indian sweets.

Ruchita Verma

Dr Ruchita Verma has been in the education sector for over 30 years, with a focus on hospitality, design operations, and management. Before becoming the dean of the School of Hospitality Management at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), she worked with Pearl Academy and the ITM Institute of Hotel Management. She has also contributed to a number of articles, research papers, seminars, and workshops over the years.

Meetali Kutty

Meetali Kutty has been a marketing strategist for over 12 years. Her experience in the hospitality industry began with Impresario Entertainment and Hospitality Pvt Ltd. She then moved on to Azure Hospitality which also helms a few big restaurant chains around India, such as Mamagoto and Sly Granny. After a short stint with the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group’s 5-star hotels around India, she most recently joined the international brand Jamie Oliver's as their India Marketing Head.

Noor Anand Chawla

Noor Anand Chawla is an independent lifestyle journalist who writes about travel, fashion, art, culture, food, and health. A lawyer by training, she pursued her passion for writing through her blog, and this paved the way into journalism. She was recently included in India’s Top 40 English Language Journalists Under 40 by the Exchange4media group. She also creates lifestyle content on Instagram as @nooranandchawla.
