Is Gen Zers’ femininity in flux?

Gen Zers are charting a new course for femininity, infusing it with fluidity and redefining feminist ideals. By embracing both hyper-femininity and traditional gender roles, they’re expanding the boundaries of empowerment. How are these evolving attitudes influencing modern narratives of womanhood?

Dr. Nyx McLean

Dr. Nyx McLean is an academic and researcher specialising in gender, sexuality, digital counter/publics, and communities. Dr. McLean holds a PhD from Rhodes University, their thesis was a post-structuralist anti-racist queer feminist study that interrogated Joburg Pride in the context of post-apartheid South Africa.

Professor Sarah Murnen

Professor Sarah Murnen is the Samuel B. Cummings II professor of psychology at Kenyon College where she studies gender-related issues using a feminist, sociocultural framework. She has recently published work on popular culture representations of gender and how they can influence body image and sexual health in both females and males. She is an associate editor of the journal Body Image and a consulting editor for The Psychology of Men and Masculinity. She was previously an associate editor of Sex Roles.
