As people become discerning over pristine and corporate communication, a casual approach is winning favour. Canvas8 spoke to Liron Simatzkin-Ohana, a PhD candidate in the department of communication at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, to better understand why people want amateur-looking comms.

Liron Simatzkin-Ohana

Liron Simatzkin-Ohana is a PhD candidate in the department of communication at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a PR consultant. Her doctoral dissertation offers a critical examination of the different ways in which commercial brands and media corporations appropriate and adapt user-generated ‘amateur’ or ‘vernacular’ aesthetics.
