Dr Catherine Benamou is a professor of film and media studies at UC Irvine. She is a scholar of transnational and inter-American media, with expertise in the politics and aesthetics of Latinx representation, transnational authorship and the intersection of media with diasporic communities. Her research examines Spanish-language television, the creation of public media spaces for marginalized groups, and the social and cultural impact of media on Latinx audiences.
