Facebook makes TV more interactive

Since we’ve gotten used to checking our notifications every few minutes, many of us can’t sit through a programme without tapping away on phones or tablets. To turn our attention back to the TV, Facebook has introduced a range of features that let viewers interact with what they’re watching.

Facebook is launching new tools that will make live TV more engaging for viewers by letting them influence the outcome of shows. Interactive viewing has already seen success on shows like The Voice and America’s Got Talent, but these programmes have typically had to direct users to apps within pages, which has proved to be too much hassle for many viewers. Facebook is now introducing features like hashtag voting. Another new feature is native polling, which lets Facebook’s media partners poll audiences and integrate them into live broadcasts.
