Curator specialising in art that explores LGBTQ+ identity
Gemma Rolls-Bentley is chief curator at Avant Arte and a mother of two in a queer relationship. She has written about, and spoken on, the subject of queer parenting for major publications. She has been at the forefront of contemporary art for over a decade, working passionately to amplify the work of queer artists and provide a platform for art that represents and explores LGBTQ+ identity. She teaches at the RCA, is a member of the Courtauld Alumni Committee, co-chairs the board of the charity Queercircle and recently curated the largest permanent display of queer art in the UK for Soho House in Brighton. Her debut book Queer Art Now will be published in 2024 by Frances Lincoln.
