Coming out on Channel 4 in mid-September 2021, comedy series Big Age is a love letter to young Black Britons. The show offers a platform to amplify culturally relevant voices, show the diversity of Black experiences, and challenge how Black Britons are represented in mainstream media.

Centered around the experiences and opinions of Black users, Black Twitter is a subculture on the platform where Black voices are unfiltered. This collective explores Black identity and demonstrates the positive impact of community in times of crisis and racial injustice.

Black British narratives in pop culture are often framed through the lens of racism, but stories of happiness and success are arguably more important in terms of diversity and inclusion. Canvas8 spoke to Timi Sotire, the co-editor of Black Joy, about media stereotypes and the power of Black art.
