Netflix has commissioned Follow This – a series of 15 minute long documentaries made by BuzzFeed News. With people increasingly consuming video on their phones, streaming platforms are experimenting with short-form shows that can be watched in their entirety, on the go.

Spanish-language crime thriller Money Heist has become Netflix’s most-watched foreign original series, as its gamble to invest in non-English content pays off. With more people binge-watching TV series, streaming services such as Netflix are diversifying to cater to all tastes and tongues.

Netflix is beginning to shift its programming away from critically acclaimed films towards crowd-pleasing B-movies, as it caters to a growing audience of people whose favourite way of switching off is kicking back, turning on, and indulging in a guilty pleasure such as watching a cheesy film.

Another year, another few billion dollars in the bank it would appear for online streaming giant, Netflix. And with a recent subscriber boom pushing the company's market value to the $100 billion mark, it will be the customer who benefits, as Netflix promise to reinvest in new original content.
