Amazon's digital assistant for the home

Digital assistants are becoming smarter, with Google Now able to anticipate your needs, and Microsoft's Cortana writing your tweets. Amazon has taken some of these features to create Echo Chamber – a hybrid of smart home devices and digital personal assistants.

Pitched as "always ready, connected, and fast. Just ask," Echo is a home speaker with a 'brain' that aims to be the digital hub of a home. Voice recognition lets it relay music, news and weather. Retailing at $199, or $99 for people with Prime subscriptions, Echo is designed to be a stationary personal assistant in the home with "far-field voice recognition" allowing it to hear voices across a big room.
