In India, everyone delivers. From sweets to stationery to ice cream to medicine, there isn’t a market that's not ripe for home delivery. But in a country that's long been a fan of direct-to-your-door, online shopping is only one part of the story.

In a country where e-commerce is widely considered a non-starter, Flipkart has revolutionised Indian online retail with its simple execution and broad product range. But has it really changed the inherently wary attitude of Indian consumers?

Shopping in corner shops, or ‘Kirana stores’, is as popular as ever in India. These small stores are convenient, offer seasonal produce and offer home delivery – the expected norm in Indian. In turn, supermarkets are finding it difficult to lure customers through their doors.

In 2013 Indian women spent over half-a-billion dollars online, and that figure is predicted to increase to $3 billion in the next three years. By 2016, women-influenced sales will make up 35% of the Indian e-commerce market which is estimated will be worth $8.5 billion.
