Community-minded Canucks expect brands to give back

An overwhelming majority of Canadians believe that large companies should be giving back to local communities and be environmentally sustainable and responsible. With worsening social, economic, and environmental conditions, people are increasingly looking at companies to lead the way.

As negative mental health remains prevalent around the world, 83% of Canadians believe that large companies should be giving back to communities by supporting charitable causes and the local population. The study of 1,500 Canadians by Mars Canada also finds that 80% of people say volunteering is one of the most effective methods of giving back, and 75% believe that all companies in Canada should strive to be environmentally responsible and make sustainable practices a key priority. "Canadians expect companies to be good citizens and have a positive influence on society,” says Chantal Templeton, general manager at Mars Canada.
