Dr. Tess Van Hemert is a lecturer in the School of Communication at Queensland University of Technology. Her current areas of research include global screen distribution and exhibition, and gender equality and diversity in the screen industry, with a particular focus on international film festivals and emerging women’s cinema. Her work has been published in Studies in Australasian Cinema, New Review of Film and Television Studies, and Cultural Studies Review.
Dr. Ruari Elkington is a creative and screen industries academic at Queensland University of Technology who combines Indigenous perspectives in his teaching with effective enterprise skills development. His industry engagement and academic research are driven by questions about how screen content connects with discrete audiences in markets increasingly under pressure through creative and commercial tensions. He’s a chief investigator with QUT’s Digital Media Research Centre and publishes in the field of screen distribution, screen studies, and education.
Dr. Ruth Rentschler OAM is a professor in arts and cultural leadership at the University of South Australia. She has conducted governance research in Australia for visual arts organisations, arts ministries, and performing arts organisations and has spoken internationally on the topic in the UK, Europe, and Asia as an invited keynote speaker. In 2020, she co-authored a research book on Indian Movie Entrepreneurship, rated as one of the best books in its field. She has published extensively in journals such as the Human Relations, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Marketing, and others.
