Why are more Aussies embracing caravan living?

Caravanning is seeing a resurgence in popularity among Aussies of all ages. From grey nomads spending their retirement on the road to digital nomads escaping the grind of city life, they are united in their love for the open road and desire for freedom and flexibility in their lives.

Max Bidstrup

Max Bidstrup is a digital content creator specialising in alternative living and van-life culture. He spent seven years working as a paramedic before following his passion for camping, travel, and living out of vans to chart a new career in filming videos showcasing kindness and community building. YouTube has been his full time job for six years now, with his channel 'Max & Occy' having grown to over 260,000 subscribers. Occy, his dog and best friend, has been by his side for the past 13.5 years and has accompanied him in the van through 18 countries. Max and Occy have now found a more permanent home and are documenting renovating a cabin in the rainforest in the northern rivers, but still love to take the van out on shorter adventures!
