Staying in line: Singapore’s obsession with long queues

In the aftermath of a pandemic amid a digitally charged Singapore, physical queues are still prevalent and thriving in the city-state. With younger Asians making up a larger chunk of the spending demographic, will physical queues continue being a mainstay in the future?

Dr Dianna Chang

Dr Dianna Chang is a senior lecturer in Marketing at the School of Business, Singapore University of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Marketing from Melbourne Business School and an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before becoming an academic, she was a strategic planning director at Publicis, one of the largest advertising agencies. Her research focuses on sustainability and consumer wellbeing.

Jerica Liew

A full-time entrepreneur and brand curator, Jerica’s work spans internationally, with experience in the frontier tech, hospitality, and real estate industries. Backed by a desire to share great stories and elevate authentic impact, she launched KOVA with the sole intention of exploring branding as a medium to drive impact, leveraging research, positioning, messaging, and branding to propel a business to success.

Man Yong Le

Man Yong Le is a versatile professional with a background in journalism, marketing, and event management. As a former broadcast journalist at Channel NewsAsia, Yong Le honed his storytelling skills and gained valuable experience in the media industry – which includes coverage of Dota 2’s premier competition, The International. He was also involved in the dynamic world of esports, working as a branding and marketing specialist at Cyberathlete Pte. Ltd. There, he led a team in promoting Cyberathlete Collegiate Mobile Legends 2022, a Southeast Asian collegiate esports competition. In his leisure time, he's an avid content creator, live-streaming on Twitch, producing gaming videos on YouTube, and indulging in music covers with his band using Ableton.
