Sssh, it’s our secret! The science of consumer secrecy

Keeping secrets from a loved one is something that’s bound to and in negative implications and fallout. But when it comes to consumption behaviours, research suggests that there are certain secrets worth keeping. Canvas8 spoke to marketing professor Danielle Brick to find out more.

Professor Danielle Brick

Professor Danielle Brick is a marketing professor at the University of Connecticut. Her research specialises in consumer relationships, particularly brand and interpersonal relationships. Professor Brick’s research has been published in a number of publications including the Journal of Consumer Research and the Journal of Consumer Psychology, among others.

Flavia Russo

Flavia Russo is a behavioural analyst at Canvas8. After gaining her MSc in international development from KCL, she worked as a translator and researcher in the non-profit and political risk sectors. There, she gained experience conducting qualitative and ethnographic research, from which her passion for analysing cultural and behavioural trends develops. When not working, Flavia loves spending time with her many cats and dogs, travelling to exotic locations, or playing tennis.
