How Indian comediennes are challenging gender bias

Though the stand-up scene in India is relatively young, it has been just as male-dominated as in the Western world. But as more female comics take to the stage and gain popularity, they’re using their platform to challenge prevailing stereotypes that resign women to domestic roles.

Neeti Palta

Neeti Palta is an award-winning comedian who has performed at national and international comedy shows. She established one of Delhi’s oldest and most successful comedy outfits – Loony Goons – in which she organises shows for corporates, pubs, and private parties.

Sanjukta Basu

Sanjukta Basu is a feminist scholar, blogger, photographer and a TED Fellow. She also owns and runs Samyukta Media, a social media and digital communication consulting for NGOs.
