Though the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has taken many by surprise, it’s not the first time in living memory we’ve dealt with one. Between 2002 and 2003 China saw a similar outbreak of a respiratory virus which became known as SARS, starting in Guangdong province and quickly spreading across the country. The outbreak and its aftermath will affect Chinese consumption habits and consumer behaviours, and will bring new challenges and opportunities to manufacturers, retailers, and service providers.
