How technology can aid older people at home

Digital solutions to problems such as isolation, a lack of mobility, and ill health are enabling older people to live well for longer in their own homes. Yet while many Boomers and Seniors and striving to become tech-savvy, what kinds of domestic gadgets do these cohorts want and need?

Jemma Mouland

Jemma Mouland is the senior programme manager for innovation at the Centre for Ageing Better, an independent charitable foundation that works to create a society where everyone can enjoy a good later life. She manages Ageing Better’s programme on addressing worklessness in later life and also leads the organisation’s innovation activity, helping to develop forward-thinking ideas that provide practical, scalable solutions.

Dr. Ramin Nilforooshan

Dr. Ramin Nilforooshan is a consultant psychiatrist and associate medical director for research and development at the Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation. He is a visiting professor at the University of Surrey and a clinical lead for one of the NHS Test Beds (TIHM) using technology for treatment. He is also a principal investigator for many national and international trials for Alzheimer’s disease.
