Have we reached peak minimalism?

The simple, uncluttered aesthetic of minimalism has become the de rigueur for interiors around the world, with brands such as IKEA appealing to consumers who want functional, simple and stylish pieces. So how did minimalism rise to such predominance and have people finally had enough of it?

Kimberly Duran

Kimberly Duran is the multi-award-winning interior design blogger behind Swoon Worthy – winner of Vuelio’s Best DIY and Interiors Blog in 2017 – which she started in 2010. Sam Hood is the creative director and head of buying at home furnishings e-tailer Amara, which she co-founded with her husband Andrew in 2005, building on interior design business they ran in Essex, UK. The website brings together more than 300 of the world’s leading interiors brands – some of which are exclusive to Amara – with a focus on customer service.
