Volunteering is big; between 2012 -2013 in England 44% of adults said they had volunteered at least once in 12 months and 29% said they did it at least once a month. [1]

But anyone who has tried to volunteer knows signing up isn’t as easy as it sounds. Registration can prove a mire of bureaucracy, as wannabe volunteers are beset by paper-work, training and even tests – none of which anyone wants to go through when trying to give their time away for free.
