What does it feel like to grow old? Professor Philip Tew and Nick Hubble asked over 300 seniors to document their experiences. The findings shed new light on this untapped, misunderstood demographic.

What does it feel like to grow old? As part of the New Dynamics of Ageing (NDA), a research initiative aimed at improving life for the elderly, historian and literary scholar Professor Philip Tew and literary academic and researcher Nick Hubble have dedicated the last five years to finding out.

"We wanted to get a better idea of how old people felt about how their lives: their views, opinions and behaviours," says Tew. To do this, over 300 seniors were asked to document their experiences through anonymous diaries kept over a ten-month period. From general attitudes and opinions ...
