From metrosexuality to inclusive masculinity

Dr Mark McCormack investigates the roles that masculinity and sexuality play in the lives of male teens.

Location United Kingdom

In order to understand what it means to be a young man today, Dr Mark McCormack undertook ethnographies of three groups of male sixth form students in the south of England. By spending over a year with them, observing them in lessons and socialising with with them at break, he developed a picture of the role that masculinity and sexuality play in their day-to-day existence. And the vital point is that the changes in masculinity are not just skin deep.
