Happiness, according to a recent global poll, is to be found in tax-tastic Northern Europe.

The study, by The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, compiled a list of the top ten countries in the world where inhabitants were most content in their daily lives.

The top three countries - Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands - have a number of things in common, including some of the highest taxes in the world. Danes pay about two-thirds of their income in taxes compared to the Americans, who have some of the lowest income tax rates.
