Journalist, researcher, and scholar covering issues of diversity in the media and cinema
With a master's degree in gender, society, and representation from the Centre of Interdisciplinary Inquiry at UCL, Misha is an expert in the representation of marginalised communities in Soviet, Russian, Caucasus, Central Asia, and European media and cinema. Their doctoral research at the University of Warwick uses decolonial and critical race theories to explore erasures and exclusions in US-centric and Eurocentric queer thinking, using late-Soviet visual culture as a case study. They are also a published journalist, having worked as a writer and project researcher at the Media Diversity Institute, an NGO dedicated to the promotion of fair and nuanced representation of diversity in global media.
