Author and academic at the crossroads of digital media literacy, emotions, and depolarisation

Manuel Alejandro Guerrero is the director of the Department of Communication at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. He is also a member of the National System of Researchers, the executive committee of UNESCO Chairs in Communication, and academic coordinator of the Professional Electoral Service at the National Electoral Institute in Mexico. His research explores the role of mediated communication in the formation of pluralistic societies within the context of Latin American countries. He focuses on the interplay between actors (media, social media, and public actors), trends (emotional communication, misinformation, polarization), and strategies to depolarize public discourse. On these topics, he has written a number of book chapters, journal articles, and several books.
