Artist and researcher of representations of femininities within pop culture
Daisy McManaman is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher. Her research interests revolve around representations and expressions of femininity. She's a PhD candidate at the University of York's Centre for Women's Studies, where her thesis project reanalyses representations of women in Playboy through an intersectional feminist lens, seeking out moments of complicated empowerment to shift the lens from Hugh Hefner and onto the women of Playboy. McManaman holds a BA in fine art photography from the Glasgow School of Art and an MFA in fibre and material studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her writing has been published in The Conversation and CNN.
