Dr. Débora Antunes earned her PhD in social sciences, communication, and media studies from the University of Antwerp. She investigated the role of social media among autistic communities in Brazil. Her most recent article, co-authored with Dr. Alexander Dhoest and titled 'The digital as prosthesis: The role of social media in autistic people's lives', was published in The Journal of Social Media in Society in 2021. She works as a lecturer at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where she teaches and supervises in the field of media and health, with a focus on disabilities.
