Ethnohistorical archaeologist exploring AI-driven media, visuality, Indigenous and settler histories
Dr. Alicia Colson is an archaeologist, ethnohistorian, and author whose interests combine digital humanities, computing science, and citizen science, with a view to taking risks and challenging safety zones and existing paradigms to interact with the world rather than viewing it from a distance, or through social media. Her work explores the interplay between archaeology, ethnohistory, anthropology, and publishing and is focused on creating and executing collaborative programs engaging 'Settlers' and 'Indigenous' peoples from NW Ontario (Canada), Southern Africa, Brazil, Antigua, and Iceland. She co-founded Exploration Revealed, a digital hybrid magazine and on driving practice in AI as a member of the IST's Special Interest Group. Her publications range from an Esri Story Map' Banishment to Cool' to literary writing and academic articles.
