Running is boring, gaming is fun and zombies are everywhere. And that’s literally, if you’re playing Zombies, Run! The app proves how well gamification and fitness can work together, and that soundscaping and augmented reality are a very easy fit.
Zombies, Run! already has over 175,000 users, with an equal male / female split and an average age range of 18-35 – although developers note that some older parents also use it. According to Adrian Hon, Founder and Chief Creative of developer Six to Start, the idea behind the app was sparked when they asked people why they wanted to get fit. While the most cited reasons were 'to lose weight' or 'to be healthy', one person answered “to escape zombies” – and Zombies, Run! was born. -
