    Hedonism is taking a dark and dirty twist: seedy is cool, erotica is mainstream, and taboos are being overturned. But in these fantasy worlds, are we really as liberal as we think we are?

    Sex sells and always has done, but right now it's selling better than ever before. In July 2012, the number of sex toys shifted by Ann Summers rose 78% compared with the same month the previous year. [1] High street behemoths Boots and Tesco are stacking their shelves with Durex-made bedroom gadgets, a female masturbation-themed bar has opened in Tokyo, and the National Trust recently launched a rather raunchy app. With Fifty Shades of Grey more popular than the Highway Code, even conservative brands are wondering how to get in on the act.
