For online retailers, engaging with customers has never been harder, or more important. Enter 'crowdsourcing': the mid-noughties marketing buzz word, which, when innovatively applied, can still prove a powerful relationship-building tool.
'Be the Buyer', a crowdsourcing initiative by online clothing retailer ModCloth, offers people the chance to take part in the fashion buying process. By genuinely passing control to the crowd, Be the Buyer has succeeded where many others have failed – following its example, how can other industries use crowdsourcing to encourage engagement? -
