    Scope
Vietnam, like China, is growing proof for the West that a one-party communist state does not necessarily mean an aversion to progress. Quite the contrary: the country has one of the fastest developing economies in Southeast Asia, with an annual GDP growth rate of 6.3%. Furthermore, its membership of the WTO means it will benefit from economic liberalisation.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) predicts Vietnam will be among the top 10 major tourist destinations in the world by 2016. Citigroup economist Willem Buiter predicts that this growth rate and attractiveness to investors will see the country rise to prominence over the next 40 years.

This report brings together expert opinion, research and the results of numerous recent industry surveys to present Vietnam as it is today, highlighting key areas of growth, potential challenges and insights for brands looking to gain a foothold in this rapidly developing nation.
