    Scope
Fabian Hemmert is a PhD student at the Design Research Lab in Berlin. His thesis is about making mobile phones more human, shifting the emphasis away from the impersonal, and towards emotion and feeling. In his own words, he makes "mobile phones that shape-change, that weight-shift... phones that put us in touch with the digital."

We spoke to him after his talk at the Lift conference on democratising innovation, in which he made the case for innovation outside of the 'comfort zone' of the white, well-educated, 30-something technology user, and spoke about the Lab's mobile design research work with underprivileged kids, women and seniors.
