    Scope
    Holiday time is, typically, a period of self-indulgence, licensed egotism. From white water rafting to hot-stone massage treatments, the tourist is usually trying to recover his or her sense of self after long months as a wage slave. But there is something else stirring in the increasingly complex business of travel management: the rise of the Conscientious Tourist. In Germany, Europe’s biggest outbound travel market with over 70 million booked annual holidays (1), the trend is catching on quickly. Tourists are not just taking packed suitcases abroad, but also social consciences.
